Keeping it Simple!

The Style Palace Princesses are the first to admit we find it hard not to buy more than we need when so many beautiful things come through the Palace doors each year, but recently the Princesses were inspired by an article dedicated to the growing trend of ‘Minimalism’.

‘Minimalism’ refers to turning away from compulsive consumerism and only buying what you need in order to simplify life and make radical environmental and practical improvements. It might be something as simple as buying second hand clothes or riding a bike to work to reduce your environmental footprint. It might even involve buying one handbag you absolutely love for $400, rather than eight for the same price when you will never get a chance to use all of them and they will just sit in your wardrobe wasting space.

All the Princesses agree the concept is great in theory, but can we make it happen? Princess Darlene has committed to reducing her shoe shopping by approximately 50% to no more than twelve pairs in 2011. Can she do it? Stay tuned to future editions of the eNewsletter and the Style Palace Blog for updates.
